Tours

Tour one of America’s most fantastic Historic Sites!

Step back in time as our experienced interpreters share with you their extensive knowledge about our historic site and the people who called it home.

Cliveden is open to the public for walk-in tours Thursday thru Sunday, from 12noon – 4pm, until the end of December. Winter tours are available by reservation only.

School Groups

Cliveden offers historic school programs for a variety of ages and interests.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (Grades 4-8)
- $4.00 per student. Chaperons are free. 30 student maximum.

Patriots or Traitors
This program looks at the conflicting loyalties of Philadelphians during the American Revolution. Students participate in an interactive introduction and then explore the lives of Revolutionary War soldiers at hands-on workshop tables. The program is followed by a tour of our battlefield and the house that withstood the assault. Goes great with Philadelphia School District Curriculum!

Math in Nature
Cliveden’s outdoor program uses our historic 6 acre property to teach geometry and algebra at a “mock” archeological dig. Students will learn to plot coordinates on a graph, estimate tree height as well as discover historic artifacts within their archeological plot.

HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE (Grades 8 +)
-$6 per student. 30 student maximum.

Themed Tours
Cliveden offers our standard battlefield and Chew House tour to all high school and student groups. We also offer tours tailored to your classes interest, including themed tours about: architecture, furniture, natural history, slavery, politics, colonial life, and revolutionary history.

History Hunters (Curriculum Based Program)

Cliveden is one of four historic sites that participates in the History Hunters Youth Reporter Program, a field trip program for Philadelphia fourth and fifth grade students. Each year more than 1000 children visit Cliveden as a History Hunter. This program is offered in conjunction with school-based curriculum. For more information about pricing and options, please visit the History Hunters Youth Reporter website.

History Hunters would also like to thank the Subaru of America Foundation for its generous contributions!

Free Spirit Paranormal Investigators

Some people believe that Cliveden is haunted by ghosts from the past.  The Free Spirit Paranormal Investigators are Cliveden’s in-house ghost-hunting team and frequently assist with educational programming.  From time to time, they also investigate Cliveden and present their findings to the public. To learn more about their work, visit the Free Spirit Parnormal Investigators website.

Revolutionary Germantown Festival
