Visiting Cliveden

Tours:
Spend an afternoon at Cliveden and step back in time as our experienced interpreters share with you their extensive knowledge about our historic site and the people who called it home . Walk-in tours are offered April through December, Thursday through Sunday, 12:00 pm– 4:00 pm. The last tour begins no later than 3:30 pm.  Tours generally last 45 minutes.

Adults, $10, Students $8. AAA and Philadelphia Card holders get 2-for-1 admission. As always, members of National Trust for Historic Preservation and members of Cliveden receive free admission.

Adult Group Tours:
Cliveden welcomes groups of up to 45 people at any time of year by advance reservation. Group rate (minimum of 10 people) is $8 per person. Tour escort and/or bus driver are admitted at no charge.

If your group has a special interest – decorative arts, military history, Chew family holdings, etc – please give us the opportunity to tailor a tour to your tastes by letting us know in advance.

Location:
Cliveden is located at 6401 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia.
Our 5.5 acre property takes up a full city block at Germantown Avenue and Johnson Streets in Philadelphia’s Historic Northwest. Visitor entrance is located at the corner of Cliveden and Morton Streets at the rear of the property.

There is no on-site parking, but street parking is generally plentiful.

Directions:
Via the PA Turnpike (1-276): Take exit 333 and follow Germantown Pike east about 7 miles to Cliveden Street on the left.
Via the Schuylkill Expressway (1-76): Take exit 340 to Lincoln Drive. Turn right onto Johnson Street (third light) then left onto Germantown Avenue (fourth light). Take the first right onto Cliveden St.
Via public transportation: SEPTA public transportation can get you to Cliveden via the 23 bus and is also a short walking distance from the R8 (Chestnut Hill West) commuter rail line.

Accessibility:
The Carriage House Visitor Center and ground floor of the museum are accessible to disabled persons.
